Tuxedo: An Evolution
Born in Britain to Ghanaian immigrants, Ozwald Boateng opened his first shop on Savile Row at the age of 23 and became the first tailor to stage a catwalk show in Paris at the age of 27. Fusing traditional craftsmanship with innovation, Boateng has created iconic constructions with a contemporary twist. For example, he stunned Savile Row in 2010 with a jazz music themed window display project, whose ensemble paired instruments with crisp tuxedos.
In his new collection, "Tuxedo: An Evolution," (link) Boateng explains:
"The key was combining traditional features with the contemporary silhouettes and techniques of the House. The creative challenge for me was in moving it forward, whilst respecting original design philosophies."
